Arrival

This page contains information on how to get to the accommodation and some general information about arrival and your stay. See Getting to Kilburn for information on how to get to the Kilburn Building.

Your Arrival

Your accommodation is in Canterbury Court (details below) but on arrival, you should come to Dalton Ellis Hall (approximately 5 minutes walk) to pick up your key. Directions are given below.

Check-in is between 14:00 and 18:00. If you will arrive after 18:00 it is very important that you contact the organisers (Giles) to make alternative arrangements for picking up your key. Failure to do so will most likely result in you being unable to access the accommodation. If you are delayed you should try and contact Giles as soon as possible (you will receive his contact details via email).

Check-out is by 10:00 on the day of departure. It is important that you remember to return your key as a charge of £85 will be incurred for lost keys.

Breakfast will be provided (with the exception of Saturday 7th) in the adjoining St Anselm Hall from 7:30.

Getting Here

From Manchester airport

From the airport, you can either take a taxi (see below) or take a train to Manchester Piccadilly
station and then travel from there (see below).

At the airport the train station is well signposted. Trains run every ten minutes and the
cost of the ticket is around £3-5. For further information see here.

By bus

From the City Centre take a bus numbered 50 (signed MANCHESTER – KINGSWAY- EAST
DIDSBURY) to Anson Road/Daisy Bank Road, Fallowfield. As mentioned below, other buses will
also take you there but number 50 is the most regular and direct.

The closest bus stop to Manchester Piccadilly station is on Princess Street. To get to this
bus stop you should leave the station by the lower exit (use the escalators near platform 10)
and cross the cross-roads to Granby Row (on the corner of London Road and Granby Row you will see a pub called “Bulls Head”). Then go straight on Granby Row until reaching Princess street. On the corner of Princess Street and Granby Row turn left and walk straight until you find the bus stop in front of the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology. If you find yourself going
under a bridge you have gone to far. You can take either bus 50 (timetable) or bus 130 (timetable). See below for an image of this route.

Alternatively, you can take either bus from Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station, which is also
a short walk from Piccadilly station and arguably easier to find.

Get off the bus at Anson Road/Daisy Bank Road (if you miss this then you can get off at
Denison Road, which is closer to Canterbury Court). Then cross over the road and walk back on
yourself to the junction of Oxford Place with Anson Road and turn left. Take the next left at
Conyngham Road and walk down – Dalton Ellis Hall will be on your left.

The rough time for the bus journey is 26-30 minutes.
Bus companies offer a different type of tickets like a single ride, multiple rides in one day or a weekly ticket. You can choose whichever is more convenient for you.

Getting to Canterbury Court by Taxi.

Provide to the driver the following Post Code: M14 5BX.
Taxi Ranks can be found at railway stations and the fare is approximately £5.00. The fare
from Manchester Airport is approximately £20. However, prices vary.
